PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 10, 2010 – TV5 introduced the first news/talk station on FM radio with the launch of 92.3 NEWS FM Radyo Singko last Monday, November 8. The station reaches Mega Manila and some parts of Northern Luzon. The new format serves to bring the public service and informative programming in Filipino normally associated with AM radio to the FM band.
“Intelligent commentaries and latest news are no longer limited to AM with 92.3 NEWS FM Radyo Singko. We’ve already introduced firebrand journalism on TV, and it’s high time that we bring radio to a new level. Whether you’re at home or on-the-go, TV5 gives you more access to accurate and latest news,” said Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Head of News5.
Radyo Singko blends the young and seasoned journalists from TV and radio through its synergy with the News5 Central News Desk in terms of content generation and news materials.

Radyo Singko’s weekday news engine starts as early as 4am with Martin Andanar in Andar ng mga Balita. The morning lineup includes Neil Ocampo and tandems Cheryl Cosim and Erwin Tulfo, and Raffy Tulfo and Nina Taduran. At noon, Laila Chikadora and Tsongki Benj bring in showbiz gossip in ShowBisto. Afternoon hosts are Luchi Cruz-Valdes and Atty. Mel Sta. Maria, Cristy Fermin and Richard Pinlac, Paolo Bediones, and Amy Perez and Hans Mortel.
DWFM’s last incarnation was the English-language pop music station U92, with MTV personalities such as KC Montero and Sarah Meier as DJs. The station signed off after one year. Prior to this, it was XFM, Joey 923 and Joey @ Rhythms 92.3. From the mid-1970s to late 90s, the station was known as MRS, playing the Most Requested Songs of its listeners.
