CANNES LIONS 2019: Cheil Worldwide Awakens the Lioness and Sets the Record Straight on Asian Women in Media and Advertising

As one of the industry’s biggest and most celebrated festivals, Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has captured the attention of every creative in the world and has all eyes in Cannes, France as the festival commences until June 21. Year after year, the organization serves a lineup of speaker sessions, discussion panels and activities that either showcase what creativity could achieve in the future, or get the crowd thinking about where the industry currently stands. 

With all creative eyes on the festival throughout its duration, it has also become a huge platform that shines a light on issues that could impact and influence the creative tide.

Some of which includes issues on inclusivity, equality and diversity – a triad of topics usually met with one more point of discussion: representation. With this, Cheil Worldwide is set to discuss the burning question on the aforementioned issues and how it relates with the representation of Asian women, specifically. The session Awaken the Lioness: the Battle Front of Asian Women” will put Asian women leaders of Cheil in the forefront as they focus on representation in Asian media, gender stereotypes and sexism in the industry and how such stereotypes benefit branded communications.
