Adfest 2024 announces Young Lotus winners: Akcelo Sydney’s Brandon Piggott and Justin Borromei

PATTAYA, THAILAND — The ADFEST 2024 Young Lotus Workshop has been completed by 36 young creatives, representing 18 cities, including Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong,
Jakarta, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney,
Taipei, Tokyo and for the first time ever, Almaty and Riyadh.

Vinit Suraphongchai, Chairman of ADFEST, welcomed all the participants to ADFEST before
the start of their two-day workshop. He explained, “Every year, the Young Lotus Workshop
proves itself to be the beating heart of ADFEST’s vision. It is a source of learning and
inspiration for the next generation of creatives in Asia Pacific and the Middle East. It perfectly
demonstrates our desire to give back to our industry and inspire the next generation of
creative leaders.”

This year Young Lotus Workshop was hosted for the second time by Ogilvy, under the theme,
“Dear Advertising, you used to be funny,” and led by this year’s Young Lotus Chairman, Ogilvy Asia Pacific Chief Creative Officer Reed Collins.

The Young Lotus teams first enjoyed a series of talks and workshops hosted by Ogilvy’s
creative, strategy and planning leaders. They were then given a real brief for real client – with
just 24 hours to meet the deadline.

2024 Young Lotus Workshop Winners

Brandon Piggott and Justin Borromei from Akcelo, Sydney are the winners of this year’s Young Lotus Workshop, with their work “Title Skin Island.” Their trophy was presented to them during the Lotus Awards Presentation on Saturday, March 23 – the final day of ADFEST 2024.

Young Lotus Workshop Speaker and Judge Stephan Schwarz, who is a Senior Creative Director at
Ogilvy Singapore
, said, “The whole process was a blast and a pleasure. So much enthusiasm
and eagerness from the young lotus that really gave me a lot of energy.”

“The winning team demonstrates what you want to get from young creatives: creativity at scale, solving a difficult brief with an astute idea that also vibed with the theme of the young lotus, humor,” Stephan added.

The Young Lotus Popular Vote

All the four finalist teams, including the team from Sydney also have the opportunity to win The Popular Vote, which is tallied from delegate votes after the end of the session, “Ogilvy Presents Young Lotus Workshop 2024: Ogilvy X Dear Advertising, You Used to Be Funny” where all the finalists presented their work.

The Young Lotus Popular Vote was won by Kanon Takahashi from Hakuhodo Inc. and Takuya Miyazaki from TBWA HAKUHODO Inc., Tokyo for their work entitled, “The Light Message.”
