India, Japan, and more Asia agencies make it to Cannes Lions’ last batch of shortlists

CANNES, FRANCE — The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is nearing its end for the year as the fifth and final day of the week-long celebration of creativity and innovation is underway. This means that the final batch of prize-winning entries for the remaining categories will be announced, completing this year’s roster of Cannes Lions winners.

On the agenda for the last day will be the announcement of the agencies that will be taking home Titanium Lions, Sustainable Development Goals Lions, Film Lions, and Glass: Lions for Change. The shortlisted works that are in the running to win these metals include entries from South Korea, Japan, China, India, UAE, Singapore, Lebanon, and Thailand — all adding up to a total of 39 shortlists across the three categories from Asia.

Landing the most shortlist spots among the countries is India with 11 shortlists collectively from agencies Leo Burnett Mumbai, Ogilvy Mumbai, FCB Interface Mumbai, VMLY&R Mumbai, Enormous Brands, Law & Kenneth Saatchi & Saatchi, VMLY&R Commerce Mumbai, Dentsu Creative Gurgaon, and Cropin Bangalore.

Going into the last day, Leo Burnett Mumbai has the most chances to bag a win on the final day among the Asia-based hopefuls. Two of the agency’s works for Lay’s — “The Biochar Project by Lay’s” (in collaboration with Cropin Bangalore) and “Lay’s Smart Farm” — respectively made the cut for the Sustainable Development Goals category, securing four shortlists for Leo Burnett.
