Carter Murray replaces Tom Sebok as CEO of Y&R, New York; Sean Howard enters as GM

GLOBAL – NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 10, 2012: David Sable, global CEO of Y&R, continues to make aggressive changes to the creative agency as he delegated Carter Murray, Y&R North America’s top officer, the additional role of CEO of Y&R New York, immediately relieving current CEO Tom Sebok of the post. In an official statement, Y&R New York said Sebok will pursue other opportunities outside the agency.

Sean Howard has also been pulled in from Wunderman Seattle to serve as the general manager of the New York Office, shifting directions from his previous role of global client services director. Meanwhile, Gloria Prestifilippo, who joined Y&R in 2011 as VP-director of human resources, has been promoted to chief talent officer in order to lure in new talent.

These four new hires are only a few of the latest appointments by Sable, in efforts to turn the agency around. Just last year, Jim Elliott from Goodby Silverstein & Partners was hired as chief creative officer of Y&R New York and Doug Sweeny, previously Levi’s vice president for global marketing, has been tasked to lead the operations of Y&R’s West Coast offices.
