IKEA supports LGBTQIA+ community with 100% donation of rainbow bag Proceeds

MANILA, PHILIPPINES –— IKEA believes that better everyday life must be accessible to everyone, regardless of gender, sexuality, nationality, age, and background.

This June, everyone can carry their STORSTOMMA bags with pride as IKEA is donating 100% of sales proceeds from the reusable rainbow bags to LoveYourself. The donation will help refurbish and improve home furnishings for LoveYourself Uni Hub in Pasay City. The organization is a community of volunteers with the objective to increase HIV awareness, education, testing, and treatment for the LGBTQIA+ community.

“We are supporting the cause of LoveYourself as it opens a discussion on an important community topic— HIV. At IKEA, we believe that everyone should have access to better everyday life. Supporting an organization that helps provide access to HIV testing, care, and treatment is a support to creating a better everyday life not only for those affected by it but also helps to eliminate the stigma,” shared Patrick Marcelo, IKEA Philippines Marketing and PR Manager

IKEA launched the STORSTOMMA bags in April 2022 as a statement of inclusivity and diversity and in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. In December 2022, IKEA released a Christmas campaign featuring a heartfelt coming out story starred by the Golden Gays. This year, the home furnishing brand takes it further by supporting LoveYourself’s HIV advocacy to create an impact for the community.

As an employer, IKEA is also committed to being a gender-equal business by ensuring equal opportunities for all genders in all countries, levels, and positions.

IKEA also believes that an inclusive workplace is a better workplace. IKEA co-workers will participate in the upcoming SM Mall of Asia Pride Run on June 22. These proud IKEA co-workers will be carrying the STORSTOMMA bag and wearing special IKEA pride shirts to celebrate Pride month.

Go ahead and carry your rainbow bag with pride and fill it with things that make you uniquely you. Visit here or IKEA Pasay City.
