DM9JaymeSyfu: the small but credible shop turns 7

MANILA, OCTOBER 19, 2012 – In 2005, the big idea to put up a shop that’s “small but credible” came into fruition when founder and chief creative officer Merlee Jayme opened its doors.  Seven years later, DM9JaymeSyfu is still pretty much the same, except that it has already won awards.

The big idea back then was to create a “small creative shop – small headcount with very big ideas. No bosses. No layers. Everyone multitasks,” she said.

One of its notable campaigns this year is ‘Bury the Past’ for women’s rights advocate, Gabriela, which took over the internet (and Facebook) by storm. The campaign saw thousands of Facebook profiles’ last names change to “scandal” in an effort to help countless women who have suffered the consequences of an uploaded sex scandal video on the internet. The campaign helped spread awareness of the effects sex scandal videos on the women involved and, at the same time, buried sex scandal hosts sites as far as 30 pages down the search engine results. This campaign has won the Silver metal for the Direct category in Spikes Asia 2012. It has also been shortlisted in the London International Awards (LIA) 2012.

“My dream is to have bigger projects that can help the country in any way possible,” Jayme said.

DM9’s foray into digital has commanded everyone’s attention and the agency is looking for more ways to explore this platform in the coming days, months and years.
