With Time Magazine top ten of 2013 photo, Philippe Lopez joins Photographers for Yolanda

MANILA – December 10, 2013 – AFP photographer Philippe Lopez, whose image taken during the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda was named one of Time Magazine’s Top Ten pictures of 2013, has joined Photographers for Yolanda, a collective that will raise funds for relief efforts through an auction of selected works.

"Philippe’s image taken in Tolosa, Leyte, The Philippines the 18th November during the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), has been included in countless front pages around the world, and also been included in Time Magazine’s 10 greatest images of the year. We are proud to be able to offer a framed copy of his iconic image at this weekend’s event," Peter O’Driscoll announced on the Photographers for Yolanda Facebook page.

In an AFP press release, Lopez said he was heading back from fishing communities devastated by the typhoon when they chanced upon a small religios procession in the village of Tolosa.
