Campaign Spotlight: Safety wins in Jollibee and Publicis JimenezBasic’s “new normal” campaign

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The country’s leading fast-food chain, Jollibee, together with their long-time agency partner Publicis JimenezBasic, recently released a video entitled, “Beeda Ang Safety at Saya”. In today’s reality where companies and the general public is plagued with anxiety and heightened safety concerns, it is not a surprise that Jollibee’s way of bringing reassurance to its patrons and fans would be done in true Jollibee fashion –with warmth, Joy, and a catchy jingle.

By capitalizing on their classic jingle ‘Beeda Ang Saya’, an iconic song that Filipinos who grew up with the brand are surely familiar with, they were able to ingeniously deliver their message of stringent safety protocols through a customer journey that is informative, engaging and highly relatable.

“It’s much more than a safety video. The song, the smiles, the very visuals of a Jollibee store open again—these bring positive vibes at a time when people need it most. We wish to let people know that while their ‘new normal lives’ may forever be changed, their favorite Jollibee continues to bring them the same joy, now even more safely.” says Trixie Diyco, executive creative director, Publicis JimenezBasic.

Securing the well-being of Jollibee employees

The ‘Beeda Ang Safey at Saya’ video starts off with safety measures beginning with the store team themselves, who are required to undergo temperature checks before reporting for duty. As their doors open to serve customers, they are mandated to wear protective gear consisting of hand gloves, face masks, and face shields.

Commitment to cleanliness and sanitation

The video also shows how Jollibee implements intensified cleaning and sanitation before, during, and after its business operations. Utensils are regularly sterilized, and store fixtures and surfaces are disinfected every 30 minutes. Self-order kiosks (SOKs) in select stores are also sanitized after each use. Ensuring that food quality is maintained, safety procedures in food preparation and handling are observed by the store crew.

Placing the customer welfare as a top priority

The customer journey starts with a three-step safety check before entering the store –stepping on a disinfectant mat, strict wearing of face masks, and checking of temperature. In-store floor markers are placed to properly guide customers in observing at least 1-meter physical distance. In the main counter, counter guards are also installed as an additional protection for customers and cashiers during transactions. Additionally, as dine-in services resume, table guards are also installed as an added precaution for customers who will be sharing a table.

Cash containers are available in every counter to encourage ‘No-touch’ transactions.  Cashless payments can also be made, allowing customers to use Happy Plus, PayMaya, debit cards, and credit cards, when paying for their meals. The same high standard for quality and safety applies to Jollibee’s delivery and drive-thru service, wherein intensified sanitation and ‘No-touch’ transactions are also implemented.

Of course, frontliners such as healthcare workers, police and military personnel, and other officials involved in providing essential services, have a dedicated priority lane to give them preferential access when ordering in stores.

‘Alagang Jollibee Hygiene Ambassadors’ as safety guards

To ensure that all safety protocols are properly observed, Jollibee has appointed ‘Hygiene Ambassadors’ who are tasked to oversee the strict implementation of all the required safety precautions.

All of the measures implemented by Jollibee are in compliance with the guidelines set by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for dine-in restaurants and fast-food establishments.

“We pride ourselves with our high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness. And now as we transition to a new normal, we further intensified our safety protocols to ensure that the safety and welfare of both our employees and customers will continue to be prioritized. As we strive to bring joy through our food during this challenging time, rest assured that we will take care of our customers and people in the best possible way,” said Ferns Yu, Jollibee Philippines president.
