TOKYO, JAPAN — In a heartwarming campaign that blends food, fun, and furry companionship, Uber Eats is making this long weekend extra special for pet owners in Japan. In celebration of National Cat Day on February 22nd, the brand has partnered with Special (Australia and Japan), Whatever Tokyo, and EssenceMediacom to launch a playful initiative that encourages people to stay in and bond with their beloved pets.

Uber Eats understands that while humans love to go out, their pets would much rather have them stay in. That’s why, with a national holiday on February 24 coinciding with National Cat Day, Uber Eats is offering a simple yet delightful solution: let your pets decide!

Enter the Uber Eats Pet Button, a limited-edition device designed to let pets nudge their owners into ordering in. When pressed, it plays the brand’s iconic phrase, as made famous by Naka Riisa and Nakao Akiyoshi: “Uber Eatsで、いーんじゃない?” (Why Not Uber Eats?). It is a cheeky yet endearing push for humans to spend more time at home, enjoying great food with their four-legged friends.

“At Uber Eats, we know pets are a huge part of the family,” said Yasunari Aoyama – Brand Marketing Manager, Japan at Uber Eats. “Pets and Uber Eats have one thing in common.. they want their humans to stay inside. We wanted to give pets the opportunity to suggest Why Not Uber Eats to their owners so they can keep their humans home and enjoy their favourite meals together this weekend.”

The initiative will be promoted via social media, digital and influencer partnerships, encouraging pet owners nationwide to embrace the joy of staying in with their four-legged friends.
