Adobo Cup 2010 kicks off for a cause this Sunday

The portions are so generous, the annual Adobo Plate, a football tourney between Philippine ad agencies, now has a sibling, the 2010 Adobo Cup.

This May 30, Sunday, 8am, seven teams compete on the ASCOM field Fort Bonifacio. Their goal, aside from the sporting kind, is goodwill and donations for the homeless World Cup team and Army kids.

Caloy Sambrano, account director at DM9 JaymeSyfu and Adobo Cup organizer, said, “Unlike last year where it was all fun, this edition will allow us to give back to the community. The different teams won’t just be going at each other, May 30 will also be a day where we collect football donations for the homeless world cup team and the army kids so that they may play the sport with decent equipment.”

Teams will no longer be required to pay an entrance fee. Organizers simply ask that they bring donations, preferably old football shoes for kids, on the day of the match. Spectators and team fans are requested to donate, too.

The teams in competition are BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines, DM9 JaymeSyfu, JWT, Ogilvy & Mather, Publicis, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi and guest team ABS-CBN Balls (a local sports TV station).

The Adobo Cup 2010 is presented by the Balls channel. Other sponsors include  adidas, Gatorade, McDonald’s, Nestea and VitaQuaker,
