Leo Burnett Manila, Lowe Philippines among first batch of Clio winners

MANILA – Two Philippine agencies were among the first batch of Clio Award winners announced last September 15. The first announcement revealed winners in Film, Film Technique, Print, and Print Technique.

Leo Burnett Manila bagged one of four Golds given in Print for ‘Iceberg’ for the World Wild Fund for Nature.

The ad, according to Leo Burnett Manila chief creative officer Raoul Panes, is part of the agency’s continuing work on Earth Hour, which Leo Burnett Sydney originated for WWF in 2007.

“Every year, we do our part here,” Panes said. “We’ve done several campaigns in the past, some pieces have been awarded internationally too, but more importantly they’ve helped the Philippines become the top participating country for several years, saving megawatts of power.”

On the ad, Panes shared: “As in all creative competitions, it’s all about the optimal combination of the idea and the crafting.”

“We’re happy that the ad’s pureness and simplicity was recognized by the jury as worthy of gold.  And in a competition where less than 1% of the entrants get gold, we are humbled by the recognition,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lowe Philippines took home one Silver and one Bronze in Print Technique for ‘Plastic Dudes’ for SM Eco Bag.

The 55th Clio Awards will be held in New York City on October 1.
