Say ‘May the 4th be with you’ better with #StarWarsEmojis

THE GALAXY — Since the dawn of the internet, the 4th of May has been unofficially celebrated every year by its intergalactic fans as Star Wars day.

Know, you probably did not, come from Lucasfilm, this expression was not.

As far as the Star Wars author Alan Arnold can recall, the phrase ‘May the fourth be with you,” was first used in 1979 when Margaret Thatcher became Britain’s first woman prime minister. Her party celebrated her victory by putting a half page ad on London Evening News with the copy: “May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie. Congratulations.” The message, though it didn’t originally come from Lucasfilm, according to Alan, was clearly influenced by Star Wars.

Regardless of who started it, ‘May the 4th be with you’ was bound to happen sooner or later because the month is plotted with important events in Star Wars history. The first Star Wars movie debuted in May 25, 1997, and all of the five other live-action films that followed also premiered in May. And of course, George Lucas’ birthday is on May 14, 1944.

Official or not, ‘May the 4th be with you’ is still too witty for Star Wars fans not to celebrate, and how do you say it better than with these #StarWarsEmojis on Twitter!

Twitter first released the #StarWarsEmojis earlier in April in anticipation of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. According to Twitter, they will be releasing more #StarWarsEmoji characters soon. Who knows? That day may be today.

The #StarWarsEmojis, just put the hashtags #C3P0, #Stormtrooper and #BB8 to use.
