Events: Day five of LIONS Live sees The Lion of St. Mark Awarding, and the Creativity Report of the Decade’s big reveal

GLOBAL – On the final day of LIONS LiveMary Wells Lawrence, Founder of Wells Rich Greene in 1966, was honoured as the Lion of St. Mark. In a conversation with Cannes Lions’ chairman, Philip Thomas, she voiced her concern that right now there is nobody bold enough to get out and lead us, and gave the message: “Let’s stop this nonsense, let’s get together, and get it done,” Adding that, “Right now in this time of confusion you’ve got to be a bold person, you’ve got to be loud, you’ve got to have very memorable expressions, you’ve got to have memorable ideas and you’ve got to shock people.”

Speaking at the CMO Growth Council DebateMarc Pritchard said, “Our industry really needs to step up when it comes to equality, equity and inclusion.” Giving a call to action from the initiatives that the Global CMO Growth Council’s leadership team prioritised at a private meeting yesterday, Pritchard said: “When we are both a force for good and a force for growth, what we create is a virtuous cycle – good leads to more economic power, economic power leads to more growth which allows us to invest back into more good.”

Young Lions winners announcement 

The results of the Young Lions Live Award were also announced. In partnership with humanitarian organisation, the UNWFP, the Young Lions Live Award called on young creatives from across the world to create a 90 second film to help to rebalance the waste-starvation equation.
