SINGAPORE — The annual Singapore Food Festival (SFF) returns for its 28th year, bringing the best of the Lion City’s F&B talents to the fore from August 27 to September 12. Adopting the theme ‘Savour Singapore in Every Bite’, SFF is where foodies can reimagine dining and travel as Singapore Tourism Board (STB) presents a hybrid of over 50 physical and online gastronomic activities — which is double in scale than last year’s celebration*.

SFF 2021 brings to the global stage the country’s food heritage and inventive culinary spirit. International audiences can enjoy Singapore’s well-loved flavours through virtual food tours, docu-features, partner recipe videos, and seeing the country’s most exemplary gastronomical talents in action.

The Boyster Omelette

One way that Filipino foodies can essentially experience the SFF is through the live masterclass of Chef JP Anglo of Sarsa Kitchen, and Chef Bjorn Shen of Artichoke. The two will feature their own renditions of the Oyster Omelette, a Singaporean favorite that has been a staple in hawker stalls around the city-state.

In the Boyster Omelette Four-Hands Masterclass, which will happen on 29th August, the two chefs will demonstrate various spinoffs of the classic local dish and interested participants can register on this link or watch via the VisitSingaporePH Facebook page.

Filipinos can also savour the flavours of Singapore through STB’s partnership with online food delivery app, Pick.A.Roo. They can order from any of its 11 partner merchants — Putien, Hawker Chan, Babu, Marriott Cafe, Shang at Home, James & Daughter, Banana Leaf, Your Local, Char Express, Nanyang, and Wee Nam Kee — and get a discount voucher worth PHP 150 for a minimum purchase of PHP 1,000, using the code PICKSFF.

“STB is excited to bring the Singapore Food Festival to audiences around the world through these online classes, tours, and activities. We invite Filipino foodies to indulge in Singaporean cuisine from the comfort and safety of their own homes and find out more about Singapore’s culture through food,” said Ruby Liu, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) Area Director for Philippines.

More ways to reimagine travel, dining through SFF

Fans of Singaporean flavours can also join several other free virtual activities by visiting singaporefoodfestival.sg.

Curious foodies can take a deep dive into the plant-growing business of Kok Fah Farm. Through a docu-feature, the SFF will take viewers on a virtual tour of the family-owned soil and hydroponics farm, where they can learn about the technologies behind high-quality local produce. They can also watch ‘Kitchen Insider: Sustenir’, which gives information on modern farming and incorporating one’s own produce into everyday dishes.

Additionally, spectators of the SFF can also reimagine walking through Singapore’s popular neighbourhoods as renowned food host Nikki Muller takes them on a virtual tour of Little India and Tiong Bahru.

With the Singapore Food Festival, Filipinos can still rediscover and explore Singaporean cuisine, see surprising similarities and new food innovations that they are free to experience now.
