GLOBAL – September 24, 2013 – The Public Assembly collaborated with WWF to come up with "Freshwater Collage," a collage-based webfilm for their Freshwater Health Assessment.
Established by WWF together with the Canadian Rivers Institute, the St. Lawrence River Institute and Trout Unlimited Canada, the Freshwater Health Assessment was developed as a clear and consistent way of measuring fresh water health in Canada.
To raise awareness about the initiative, The Public Assembly’s director, designer, and animator Hector Herrera came up with "Freshwater Collage." With its digital collage style, the webfilm has a grassroots feel.

"The spot was created using a combination of Victorian woodcut images and digital and hand-rendered elements aimed to attain a tactile and organic look and feel that connected with WWF," said Herrera.
Herrera shared that the backgrounds were created out of scraps of vintage paper, watercolor swatches, illustrator artwork and some hand rendered images.
"The characters are a combination of collage and hand drawing. Their clothes where achieved by mapping photographic elements onto a hand rendered body. Then all the characters were rigged for animation in After Effects," Herrera said.
