< width="147" height="110" align="left" src=" phils. " alt="" />The once-again booming Philippine economy has not only brought much needed foreign business in the country but also a big first to the nation’s marketing industry. The Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) unanimously won the privilege to host the 2008 World Marketing Conference which is organized by the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF), the premier marketing association covering all the national marketing organizations in Asia.

Incumbent PMA president Ricky Alegre proudly announced the ground-breaking news at the PMA’s latest General Membership Meeting after their trip to Jakarta, Indonesia where Professor KK Kamagolda of Sri Lanka, president of the AMF, officially sealed the deal with the PMA representatives. The Federation held its Board of Management meeting in Jakarta to coincide with the Asean Summit hosted by Indonesia.

Marketing professionals in the country are indeed more aggressive than ever,” Alegre said. “It is high time that we give them the proper venue and opportunities to meet more people who will help them achieve more.”

Together with Alegre during the signing off were Tom C. Banguis, Jr., PMA immediate past president and Edwin Mapanao, president of the Certified Professional Marketers’ Society of the Philippines, along with Wasantha Mallikarachchi, executive director of the AMF.

With this rare opportunity, the country is once again faced with an enormous chance to prove to the world that Filipinos also have what it takes to be at par with the world’s marketing scene and push further the battlecry of “Global Ako! Angat Ako!” (I’m Global! I’m on top!)
