THE PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 27, 2012: In a disclosure made to the Philippine Stock Exchange last Friday, February 24, GMA Network’s senior vice president for entertainment Wilma S. Galvante has retired, following the company’s policy on compulsory retirement. As of the moment, there has been no mention of Galvante’s replacement.
Galvante is behind the singing contest “Ang Bagong Kampeon” (The New Champion) during the 1980s. The program credited to have kick-started other talent shows in the country.
Several primetime fantasy-genre programs of GMA 7, like Mulawin, and comics-based series like Darna and Captain Barbell were produced under Galvante’s leadership.
