“The Indierectory,” the Philippines’ first directory of ad independents is finally up. The website went live on June 12, 2019, on Philippines’ Independence Day.
GIGIL, an independent ideas agency, brought together a list of ad independents to help freelancers connect with hiring agencies and companies. There are different categories that cater to a diverse set of talent. Art directors, copywriters, illustrators, video editors, film directors, and motion graphics artists can all sign up to be included in the website. One can easily browse each category to look for freelancers and their portfolios.
The project was conceptualized by GIGIL and was launched in December 2018 in the Mad About Indies event. It was launched in the year the industry’s ranks of freelancers swelled as many agencies rightsized their operations.
“There are many projects out there, and we just want to make sure freelancers have a chance to get them,” says GIGIL Partner Herbert Hernandez. “We want to connect the demand with the supply.”
“Being an indie agency, we want to champion the indie spirit,” GIGIL Partner Badong Abesamis continues.
Freelancers who weren’t able to sign up to the directory can still join “The Indierectory” here.
