Greenpeace and Partizan reframe corporate intimidation through horror in SLAPP SUIT

Produced by Partizan and directed by Martin Stirling, SLAPP SUIT is a new film for Greenpeace International created by Don’t Panic, starring Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem and Heartstopper actor Yasmin Finney.

Set inside a historic Savile Row tailor shop, the film transforms the mechanics of corporate intimidation into something tactile, claustrophobic and cinematic. Javier Bardem plays a sinister tailor crafting bespoke suits for some of the world’s largest fossil fuel companies, while Yasmin Finney stars as a young protester drawn into his workshop and measured up for a suit of her own.

What begins with quiet observation quickly escalates into psychological horror. Rolls of pinstripe fabric bear the names of global energy corporations. Stitching reads “GAG ORDER”, “SUPPRESSION” and “CEASE AND DESIST”. Steam, scissors and tape measures become instruments of control as the suit tightens around its wearer, physically restricting her ability to move or speak.

Produced by Partizan, the film leans fully into the visual language of horror rather than conventional advocacy filmmaking, reframing Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation — or SLAPPs — as something visceral, isolating and physically oppressive.

The film’s central conceit plays on the double meaning of the word “suit”: a tailored garment and a lawsuit designed to silence dissent through intimidation and financial pressure. Rather than explaining the issue through policy language, Stirling visualises the emotional reality of being targeted: fear, exhaustion and the erosion of voice itself.

The film culminates in Yasmin Finney’s protester breaking free from the suit entirely, reframing resistance not as symbolic but as physical and collective.

Javier Bardem said “I made this film with Greenpeace because they’re fighting a monumental legal battle about free speech, but really it’s about something much bigger: widespread attempts to silence activism.”

The project marks another collaboration between Partizan director Martin Stirling and Don’t Panic, following Most Shocking Second a Day, one of the most widely viewed campaigning films of the past decade.

“SLAPP suits are designed not to seek justice, but to bury it,” says Martin Stirling. “This film is both a warning and a rallying cry.”
