AlmapBBDO wins Agency of the Year; BBDO, Network of the Year for the 4th time

 

After all was said and done, AlmapBBDO of Brazil under the leadership of Marcelo Serpa was declared the most awarded agency of the festival. Its mother network BBDO continued to hold former frontrunner DDB at bay, for the fourth year in a row. Y&R makes its first appearance in a long while in the network triumvirate.

As new categories were added, more special awards were presented. Curiously enough, the more specific the awards became, the lines between creative, media, direct, interactive agencies blurred even further.

The following special  awards  were given as the results of the different categories were released through the week. They appear below in the order they were announced.

Direct Agency of the Year

This award is given to the agency that obtains the highest score for entries in the Direct Lions section, irrespective of whether these have been entered by the agency or another party.

Media Agency of the Year

Interactive Agency of the Year

Independent Agency of the Year

This brand-new award honours the independent agency that has amassed the most points across ALL the entry sections at the Festival – that is, Film, Press, Outdoor, Radio, Media, Cyber, Direct, Promo & Activation, Design, PR, Film Craft, Titanium and Integrated sections.

Network of the Year

Palme D’Or

The Palme d’Or is given to the best production company. To compete for this prize, a production company must have at least 10 films in the competition, irrespective of whether these have been entered by the production company, advertising agency or another third party.

Grand Prix for Good

This year, a special category was created for entries ineligible to win a Grand Prix in their sections because they are made for charities and public services. Each of the Gold winners in these categories across ALL entry sections were judged by the Titanium and Integrated Jury, who chose one piece to receive the Cannes Lions Grand Prix for Good
