Eduardo Mapa Jr. appointed President & CEO of Media Contacts Philippines

PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 2010 – Media Contacts Philippines’ Eduardo Mapa Jr. was recently appointed as the president & CEO of the agency. The appointment was announced by Vishnu Mohan, CEO Asia Pacific of Havas Media and chairperson of the agency’s board of directors. Formerly the agency’s managing director, Mapa takes over the position formerly held by Donald Lim, who left for MRM Worldwide Philippines.

“This is a nod of confidence to Ed. He has steered the young agency with remarkable success. He and his team have been winning creative citations and new business. Winning the 2009 Araw Media Agency of the Year title and being the digital agency assigned by Unilever the most number of its brands is no small feat. Add to that their recent acquiring of San Miguel Brewery and Citi digital projects and it’s not difficult to see why Ed is now President and CEO of Media Contacts Philippines,” said Mohan.

Under Mapa’s watch, Media Contacts Philippines started with a bang by winning a Gold for Innovative Category in the 2009 Boomerang Awards. Their streak continued at the Philippine Advertising Congress with a Bronze in Best Viral Campaign and a Gold in Best Use of Internet. Media Contacts also stole the spotlight by winning the 2009 Araw Media Agency of the Year. The agency has also won two Havas ICON Awards and their “Awesome Philippines” campaign was shortlisted as one of the Best Targeted Campaigns at the Festival of Media in Valencia, Spain. A recent notch on the agency’s belt was their two for two showing in the 2010 Boomerang Awards, wherein both of their entries won metals—a Silver Boomerang in Interactive Games, Tools, and Community Applications and a Bronze Boomerang in Viral Marketing.
