Run backwards to reverse environmental damage

THE PHILIPPINES, JULY 18, 2012: The environmental damage caused by humans already has far-reaching effects that have affected, and even taken, the lives of millions. There are so many that need to be done that some people have become hopeless.

The World Wildlife Fund found a solution that can help put a dent in the seemingly colossal fight against environmental damage: the first WWF Reverse Run on July 22 at the SM Mall of Asia.
The reverse marathon will see participants running backwards for 200 meters, and then run forward for 3km, 6km, and 12km. The idea came from the DDB Philippines’ creative team, led by executive creative director Joey Ong. The reverse marathon signifies as “a pledge to reverse the bad that we do to our environment,” Ong said.
Proceeds of the Reverse Run will go to the Reverse the Bad Student Program and WWF’s other programs on environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and climate change adaptation.
Registration fees are P500 for the 3km race, and P500 and P600 for the 6km and 12km races, respectively. The race kit includes a limited edition WWF singlet, race bib, and safety pins. Anyone can register at Chris Sports branches (SM Mall of Asia, SM Manila, and Glorietta), Fitness and Athletics Company (Bonifacio Global City), and Skechers branches (Festival Mall Alabang, Market! Market!, and Trinoma). For those who prefer to register online, log on to: http://event.ayojak.com.ph/event/wwf-reverse-run-2012-reverse-the-bad.
