PHILIPPINES, AUGUST 6 – Local broadcaster TV5 is boosting its news and public service delivery block, NEWS5, starting today with three new public offerings.
The Tulfo brothers, Raffy, Ben, and Erwin, will anchor T3 Reload: Kapatiran ng Serbisyo Publiko, which airs at 5:30PM, a slot that precedes the station’s evening news show AKSYON, which goes head-to-head with ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol and GMA’s 24 Oras.
In this spot, the Tulfo brothers will again champion consumer welfare and rights, lead crime exposés and prevention and advocate issues concerning women and children. T3 will also introduce video clip segments ‘Anlabo’ and ‘Bidyolanta’, using videos generated by the show’s concerned viewers.
The move is a nod to NEWS5’s recognition that news production has moved beyond news organizations and its news arm will cull compelling stories across all platforms for presentation via a late-night newscast Pilipinas News (P-News). Paolo Bediones, Cherie Mercado and Jove Francisco will anchor P-News at an 11:30PM weekday slot.
The national late-night newscast aims to provide critical perspective of the day’s news and even outline solutions to alleviate pressing concerns by delivering untold stories of citizens striving to better their lives and impact on the lives of others.
NEWS5 plans to offer another pioneering format in the slot after P-News with a format that mixes commentary with in-depth reports on the day’s headlines. Hosted by Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Reaksyon aims to provide both facts but also firsthand insights from NEWS5’s pool of journalists.
