The group has developed the “Androidion” mobile application, the world’s first dual-handed phone accordion, as well as the “W+K Black Book”, an interactive corporate directory, and an interactive screen for Dutch fashion designer RIMA. The launch of two developer-oriented tools will be announced soon on www.thedamarmada.com.

Lee Newman, managing director of W+K Amsterdam, says: “As an independent agency we have the latitude to experiment and we try to foster a spirit of entrepreneurialism. The Dam Armada is a perfect example of it. This really is a different model and requires a different mindset. Rather than answering client briefs the Dam Armada has the freedom to dream up digital ideas and the skill to bring them to life.”

The Dam Armada was the brainchild of Crispin Porter + Bogusky and DoubleYou alumnus Jordi Martinez. With over 10 years creative and development experience on brands such as Nike, Coke, Honda, Burger King and VW, Martinez will lead The Dam Armada team.

Martinez says, “The Dam Armada is an opportunity to surprise and delight clients with ideas that go beyond their expectations. It’s about proactively developing digital opportunities for brands, working beyond the scope of the briefs we’re given. We are crafters, so we create unique tailor made interactive experiences.”
