JWT Manila young creatives hit the target in Spikes Asia Agency Shootout

THE PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 24, 2012 – Clear campaign execution is no easy feat. But to win an award for it makes the effort so much worth it. JWT Manila’s Maan Bautista and Javey Villones took the challenge and hit the target in the inaugural Young Spikes Agency Shootout at the recently concluded Spikes Asia 2012.

The brief gave the contestants the chance to conceptualize a campaign for Greenpeace – to get people to sign up and support the organization’s causes.

“[Javey and I] took several routes, coming up with as many studies as we could,” Bautista said. “It also helped that a few weeks back, our regional executive creative director Tay Guan Hin visited the office and held a creative workshop for the department. The lessons from that session came quite handy.”

When asked if they expected to win the gold, the duo said that they weren’t expecting it at all. After submitting their entry, they were still thinking about how they could have improved on it. "We just hoped our ad conveyed the message clearly," Bautista said.

When the awards night came and their team announced the winner, they were surprised. ”It was quite overwhelming. The runners-up were from two of the most prestigious agencies in Japan. When they called our name and agency, it took us a while to absorb what was happening. Our hands were shaking as we texted Dave (Ferrer) and Joe (Dy) the good news. But we’re really happy to have achieved another first for JWT Manila,” Bautista said.
