Eight agencies shortlisted in DOT country branding pitch reboot

THE PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 21, 2011: The Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced the shortlisted bidders for the Philippine branding campaign focused on tourism. Seven agencies were previously shortlisted for the campaign. However, because of withdrawals and failure to submit the requirements on time, only BBDO Guerrero was left, causing the DOT to declare a failure of bidding. The pitch which was re-opened on September 30, not long after veteran adman Ramon Jimenez was named DOT Secretary. 
 
The scores of the eight advertising agencies shortlisted were revealed. Dentsu Philippines leads with 57 points, followed by J. Romero & Associates with 52, Lowe with 49, BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines with 48 and DDB Philippines with 47. WPP/JWT, Y&R Philippines and Aspac Advertising are in a three-way tie for sixth, expanding the original shortlist of seven to eight firms. DOT has not released the breakdown of the scores.
 
The second shortlist closely resembles the initial one, which also included BBDO, Dentsu, J. Romero, JWT, Lowe and Y&R. DDB and Aspac are new additions; McCann, which was in the initial shortlist, is not in the running.
