DentsuINDIO shuts down; Parpan hints of new digital venture

THE PHILIPPINES, JUNE 20, 2012:  As of June 15, 2012, local digital agency DentsuINDIO has ceased operations, according to managing director and founding partner TJ Parpan.

The closure was a result of the ongoing re-evaluation of Dentsu operations in the ASEAN region by the regional office.

"It is part of the mid and long term plans of the Dentsu Regional Office in response to the changing needs and requirements of various clients and the market within the many countries in the region," explained Parpan.

Parpan assured that the closure of DentsuINDIO does not affect nor involve the operations of Dentsu Holdings Philippines and Dentsu Philippines. Also, all outstanding obligations to business partners and suppliers of DentsuINDIO will be honored and paid in full. Existing clients have been duly informed and the appropriate transition of their requirements has been established.

In 1996, Parpan together with other partners started INDIO Communications Design as a graphic design agency and helped expand the business to offer no-line communications covering customer relationship management, digital marketing, advertising, and activations.
It was in 2004 that the agency partnered with the biggest advertising single-brand agency in the world, Dentsu, and has since been known as DentsuINDIO.

Parpan will continue to fulfill his role as board of director of the Internet & Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines representative to the AdBoard and co-chair of the Trade Practices and Conduct Committee.

"INDIO has been my one and only job for close to 17 years. Seven or so of those years have been with the Dentsu Network, and that has allowed me tremendous growth professionally as it opened up opportunities and experiences in the advertising and digital industry on a local and global scale," said Parpan.

Parpan paid tribute to his colleagues  saying: "I have never been prouder seeing ex-"Indiots" as we jokingly called ourselves, shine and thrive in their new endeavors, or when the current crop would step up and meet the challenges head on and come out on top. The friends I have made within the organization and in the industry have added to the richness of my journey."

As for what’s next for Parpan, he only has this to say: "With the undeniable growth of digital in the country and subsequent opportunities that come with it, things are definitely looking up," hints Parpan.
