DOT sets P1bn for tourism branding in 2013

MANILA, MAY 27, 2013 – The Department of Tourism is allocating P1bn to fund its marketing efforts this year, doubling the amount set in 2012.

Reports say that bulk of the budget will go to tourism branding, which will include building up the Philippines as an attractive destination to the global tourism scene, and that Tourism Promotions Board chief operating officer Domingo Ramon Enerio III has also called for help from other agencies of the government in improving facilities like airports.

The Department of Tourism is yet to provide more details about a creative pitch set sometime in the second half of the year. BBDO Guerrero is currently handling creative duties for DOT and is the agency behind the ‘More Fun in the Philippines’ campaign which took off winning awards from local and international shows. The media account was won by Dentsu Philippines in September.
