InMobi opens office in Taiwan

ASIA-PACIFIC – TAIPEI, TAIWAN, APRIL 18, 2012: Independent mobile advertising network InMobie lands in Taiwan. The move into Taiwan represents the next phase in InMobi’s global expansion plans.

“Our network data shows that Taiwan’s mobile space is growing at a rapid pace. Establishing an on-ground presence in Taiwan will let us better serve local advertisers and capitalise on that growth,” said Phalgun Raju, regional director and general manager — Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan for InMobi. “We are focused on strengthening our on ground support teams to address the unique needs of the diverse regional markets. Over the next few months, we are looking to hire the best local talent with an in-depth knowledge of the Taiwanese mobile landscape and consumer preferences.”

InMobi served one billion mobile ad impressions in the fourth quarter of 2011 in Taiwan, a fifteen-fold increase over the same period in 2010. Already one of the world’s most sophisticated mobile markets, smartphone ad impressions share increased to 96% from 88% the year before. HTC dominates the mobile phone market, with 45.6 percent share and two hundred times more impressions than previously. Samsung is in second place, with 20.4 percent share, and Apple is third most popular manufacturer, after its market share decreased from 22.8 percent to 11.2 percent. Apple’s loss was Android’s gain as it became the top mobile OS in 2011, with a market share that increased from 65.5 percent to 83.8 percent.

InMobi has supported Taiwanese campaigns for brands like Estee Lauder, Godgame, Taiwan Mobile and China Airlines, through local partners and this move will help strengthen both direct advertiser and agency relationships going forward.
