MANILA, MARCH 25, 2013 – The Creative Guild of the Philippines paves the way for students to land their dream jobs as either art director or copywriter at this year’s Kidlat Awards, slated to happen on April 11-12, 2013 at the Sofitel Plaza Manila.
This year, is an important turning point for the annual awards show. Aside from moving the epicentre of Kidlat creativity from Boracay to Manila, students are now given access to the hallowed halls of admen and women plus they get the chance to choose the shortcut to advertising with Kidlat Student competition. The prize? A job in an advertising agency straight out of college.
Commenting on this development, Creative Guild of the Philippines president Joey Ong said, “I noticed a lot of good young creatives from universities having a hard time landing a job in advertising. When I asked them [about this, it] was due to their lack of connection with agencies. We want to cut them a break and get the best students out for agencies to hire. Sounds fun, diba?”
Thus, Student Kidlat, where “the best will be hired during the show”, was realized.
To join:
1. Sign up and be a student delegate at the Kidlat Awards (April 11-12).
2. Make a website containing your work/sample work. Feel free to set up your website on any blogging platform or social network, as long as it’s accessible to the public.
3. The real task is to convince the judges to visit your site. How you do it is entirely up to you. You can make a print ad, a poster, a radio ad, or a banner ad. You can also make a hashtag or a meme that will trend and make the judges sit up and notice. The possibilities are endless.
4. Label the CD: Kidlat Student Contest Entry

Deadline for submission of CD: April 11, 5pm at the Kidlat Awards, Sofitel Philippine Plaza
Winners will be announced on April 12 on the awards night.
Registration fee:
P 2,000 – includes access to the talks and exhibit on April 11 and 12
P 3,000 – includes access to the talks and exhibit on April 11 and 12 and the awards night and after-party on April 12.
