Mad World goes digital at three

THE PHILIPPINES, JANUARY 25, 2012: With 3,000 delegates expected, this year’s Mad World is bound to be the largest student marketing conference in the country. It is nicknamed Mad World 3D as it will go digital on its third year. The Mad World series is an initiative of JWT Manila and the Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA).

Compared to the previous congresses heavily skewed towards advertising, this year will see a more diverse line-up of speakers representing the fields of digital marketing, advertising, and the government.

At the top of the roster is Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, previous ad man and current head of the country’s new tourism campaign that leverages on digital social media. He will be joined by Tony Harris, chief executive officer of BBDO Guerrero, to talk about insights and strategies for the “It’s more fun in the Philippines” campaign.

Other representatives from the advertising industry are Tony Sarmiento, chief collaborator at Collab Manila, and Jos Ortega, chief executive officer of JWT Manila. Sarmiento will share creative solutions to brand challenges, while Ortega, a regular speaker of the series, will open students to the power of social media. On the digital sphere, managing director of MRM Worldwide, McCann Worldgroup Donald Lim will speak about brand marketing in the digital age.

Justin Jamias, Director of Mad World 3D, said that the push for a digital-themed conference is timely as more schools are offering digital-related subjects. Ortega also quipped: “For the Now Generation, digital is not a medium.  It is way of life.  And in many instances, it is their life.”

Slated on January 28, the conference will be held at the SMX Convention Center and welcomes both students and professionals. For inquiries, contact the PJMA through: Justin Jamias: 0927 383 0204/0915 421 1731, Mikaela Lacaba: 0915 203 8911, or Lawrence Ong: 0916 692 5152.
