Meet the new managing director of MediaMonks’ UK Monastery

AMSTERDAM – November 1, 2013 – After close to four years of British business, MediaMonks London will gain a new managing director, Astrid van Essen, from November 1.

Van Essen – currently CSD at the company’s Amsterdam HQ – spent the early years of her career in both client-side roles and as account director for a number of prominent digital agencies, MediaMonks said in a press release. She joined MediaMonks two years ago, employing her experience to strengthen the relationships between the creative digital production company and its agency-clients.

Victor Knaap, MediaMonks CEO (or ‘Main Monk’), said, "Astrid [van Essen] has been instrumental in forming and nurturing constructive relationships with our agency-partners. Her background has meant that they can rely on her to both take care of the process behind digital production and maintain a thoughtful awareness of their goals and expectations, as well as those of their client brands. The result is an end product with significantly added value. We’re excited to see her bring these skills to the table of our London operation.”

Van Essen said, “I’ve spent the last ten years involved and interested in innovation and technology driven developments, and my move to London is a continuation of this.

I’m thrilled at the opportunity to work alongside some of the most exciting agencies in the industry, and I look forward to participating in producing the best digital work that the city’s international market has to offer." MediaMonks currently collaborates with agencies such as AMV/BBDO, BBH, Iris, Mother, Saatchi & Saatchi and Work Club.

Astrid van Essen will assume the role of Managing Director on November 1 of this year. She will replace Joris Pol, who now acts as MediaMonks International Project Director. Pol coordinates proceedings from MediaMonks’ satellite offices in London, New York and Singapore with its extensive creative production teams based at its Amsterdam Headquarters.
