Multigenerational artists present ‘Modern Negrense Family’ exhibit at Orange Project, Bacolod

BACOLOD, PHILIPPINES — What constitutes a family in today’s times? Seventeen artists from Negros Occidental attempt to answer this question through a multimedia visual arts exhibit entitled “MODERN NEGRENSE FAMILY” at Orange Project from July 01 to 30. With ages ranging from 20s to 80s, this diverse group of artists represents three generations of Negrense family life, thereby conveying through their artworks perspectives and ideas about family very much informed by their locality, culture, and circumstances.

Curated by Georgina Luisa Jocson of Off Center Creative Initiatives, “MODERN NEGRENSE FAMILY” features the works of Rafael Paderna, Rodney Martinez, Perry Argel, Angela Silva (60s and up); Roedil “Joe” Geraldo, Revo Yanson, Neil Benavente, Darel Javier (50s); Olive Gloria, Frelan “Pakz” Gonzaga, Moreen Austria, Michael John “Mikiboy” Pama (40s); Guenivere Decena, Erika Mayo, Brandon Braza, Vincent Sarnate, and Ann Gaurana (30s and 20s).

Comprising all-new works, the collection of paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, mixed media works, and installations currently occupy the main gallery of Orange Project, the premier art gallery in Negros Occidental. “MODERN NEGRENSE FAMILY” is open to the public and will run until July 30.
