“Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino” is ABS-CBN’s Halalan 2016 battle cry

MANILA – ABS-CBN Corporation has revealed “Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino” (Let the Filipino Family win), the new theme to rally civil involvement for the Halalan 2016 election coverage.

Supporting the movement are 22 institutions, working with the media conglomerate to safeguard the credibility of next year’s elections. The partnership, calling to arms the country’s top schools, advocacy groups and other stakeholders, was formalized in a covenant signing last Thursday at Resorts World Manila.

This marks ABS-CBN’s third thematic election coverage, with “Ako lang Simula” back in 2009 for the 2010 national and local polls, and “Tayo Na” back in 2012 for the 2013 mid-term elections.

The new theme comes complete with an anthem with the same title, performed by KZ Tandingan and Kokoi Baldo, telling the story of how exercising the right to vote can secure the futures of countless Filipino families.

“For too long, we’ve elected candidates not because of track record or a solid plan of governance, but because of popularity. 2016 gives us a new opportunity to put all these behind. In the 11 months leading to Election Day, ABS-CBN Integrated News will use all its resources to seek the complete truth about the candidates and the interests they represent, what they stand for,” Ging Reyes, head of ABS-CBN Integrated News, said.

Supporting the coverage online is the the Comelec Halalan 2016 mobile application. Developed by ABS-CBN News and Comelec, the app lets citizens check their voter status and stream the latest election news and information, In addition, it allows users to report election-related fraud and related issues to the ABS-CBN citizen journalism arm Bayan Mo iPatrol Mo.
