Events: Now on its Second Year, the Largest Filipina Business Summit “Entrepinays Summit”, Expands to 2 Days in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Entrepinays Summit now in its second year, is an annual, inclusive, community-minded gathering for Filipina entrepreneurs and professionals. The event takes place on October 5-6 at conference space Bespoke (inside the Westfield Shopping Center), in San Francisco’s Filipino Cultural Heritage District, SOMA Pilipinas. Due to popular demand, the summit has extended to two days and at a larger venue this year. With over 200 attendees expected, participants will attend workshops related to purpose and practice such as “Brown Girls Budget: Money Tips We Never Learned” and “Where Business Meets Social Good: Can You Build A Company That’s Profitable AND Responsible?” Guest speakers for this year’s summit include Pinay powerhouses such as Passion Planner & CEO Angelia Trinidad, HeyBerna founder and “financial hype woman” Berna Anat, award-winning conscious fashion company Cambio & Co. founder Gelaine Santiago, and many others.

“Since attending the Entrepinays Summit last year, our business has grown exponentially and we’ve deepened our relationships with the Filipino community,” says Gelaine Santiago, founder of Cambio & Co.At the summit, not only did I get to meet many of our existing customers. I also got to connect with inspiring individuals who went on to become some of our most passionate Cambio community advocates. Being at the summit also showed us the power of the Filipina community, and helped give us the foundation to launch our second business Sinta & Co.”, shares Filipina Canadian, Santiago.

The summit, created by Make it Mariko Events founder and former Google X Head of Marketing Events Gina Mariko Rosales, welcomes self-identified Entrepinays (Filipina/Pinay entrepreneurs) who currently run a business, aspiring Entrepinays who wish to start a business, general pinay supporters who want to learn about and participate in a positive community and LGBTQIA+ and gender non-conforming pinxys and visionaries. Rosales created Entrepinays Summit with a vision of building an accessible and meaningful community, exploring identity, exchanging ideas, healing intergenerational trauma, empowering pinays and supporting their visions for change.

“I’m so excited about our 2nd year of Entrepinays Summit. Last year, we launched with a dream to bring together the many pinay entrepreneurs that we were discovering as a direct result of the UNDISCOVERED SF Filipino Night Market in San Francisco. In only one year, the #Entrepinay movement has taken on a life of its own and there are pinays from all over the world using the hashtag and claiming this movement. From @entrepinayship in LA, to @entree.pinays in Australia, to the many jetsetting pinays doing big things and traveling the world — pinays are making our mark in business, and more importantly, uniting together under a shared vision of sisterhood and PINAYISM. That is what the goal of Entrepinays Summit is — to bring pinays together, and empower us to own our own businesses,” says Gina Rosales, founder of Entrepinays Summit.

Rosales founded Entrepinays as an online, Pinay community promoting “sisterhood in the hustle.” This online community and the summit are important resources for pinays, considering the following statistics cited on Entrepinays’ website:

●  Filipinos are the 3rd largest growing Asian group in the United States with over 4 million people. California has the largest population of Filipinos with over 1 million. San Francisco has the second largest Filipino population with 305,000, right behind Los Angeles.

●  In 2018, women are estimated to control $40 trillion in consumer spending across the world.

●  Asian American households spend 21% more than the average U.S. household

●  Asian American women are fast to adopt new technologies, particularly apps that are popular with Millennials, such as Snapchat for social, Venmo for digital wallet and Waze for navigation.

“I’ve spoken to a lot of incredible audiences of women, but as a Filipina-American, the thought of speaking to a room full of Entrepinays gives me goosebumps. I actually see myself in this event, in this organization, and in my fellow speakers and attendees — and as a woman of color in the personal finance world, I have never been able to say that before. This is my first experience, as a speaker, to feel fully mirrored in my identity and my culture from all sides.” Shares Berna Anat, founder of HeyBerna. “I’m looking forward to Entrepinays, not just as a business-forward industry event, but as a meaningful, restorative, healing and invigorating experience for me.”
