Interpublic appoints two SVP-Global Directors of Talent

GLOBAL – New York, USA, August 2, 2011 – Interpublic Group has announced two promotions from within the group to strengthen its senior corporate Human Resources leadership. Beverly Popielarz and Marge Hoey have both been appointed to SVP, Global Director of Talent, effective immediately.

Popielarz moves from her current role as Draftfcb’s Chief Talent Officer, while Hoey is currently Associate General Counsel for IPG. As part of a reorganization of the corporate HR department, the two will work as partners and report to Philippe Krakowsky, IPG’s Chief Strategy and Talent Officer.

Hoey will oversee the HR team for IPG corporate employees and the company’s new HR systems as well as corporate policies. Hoey will continue to serve in her important role working on diversity and inclusion initiatives.  Popielarz will oversee leadership and development, compensation and benefits.

“As we look to take talent management to a new level in these very dynamic times for media and marketing, it’s important to put in place a team of senior leaders with a deep understanding of our business and the needs of our operating companies," said Krakowsky. “Beverly and Marge each bring strong industry experience, as well as exceptional expertise in their respective fields, to their new responsibilities."

Popielarz moved to New York in 2005 to join FCB Worldwide as Chief Talent Officer. Previously, she spent 10 years at FCB in Los Angeles and also served as Managing Director of The Watts Group, an executive recruiting firm specializing in marketing and advertising. She started her career at Ogilvy & Mather in Los Angeles, also has experience in the entertainment industry, having served as VP of Human Resources for PolyGram Entertainment.

Hoey has worked at IPG as Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary since 1994. In that time, she worked closely with all of the company’s corporate departments and its major agencies on a broad range of matters, from industry issues to acquisitions, employment law and the talent function.  She helped build an industry-leading legal team at Interpublic and was instrumental in launching the company’s diversity and inclusion initiative. Prior to joining IPG, she served as Senior Counsel at Grey Advertising.

A successor to Popielarz has not yet been identified.  She will therefore initially split her time between Draftfcb and IPG until her previous post has been filled.
