THE PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 13, 2012: This time, your virtual friend forever Ate Vangie not only gives cooking advice, assists in maneuvering around Metro Manila traffic, serves as a personal burglar alarm, and not to mention stars in her own music video. Siri’s very Filipino counterpart is now David Archuleta’s new personal secretary.
In a special edition video and Ate Vangie’s seventh in total, !Gung Ho Films Manila’s creation works together with the American Idol alum, who now adds “actor” to his growing resume. Archuleta of course couldn’t understand his virtual assistant (although he is still all smiles), as she speaks mostly in Tagalog, but the snazzy, snappy Ate Vangie immediately switches to accented English. The spot is an initiative by TV5 to promote Archuleta’s upcoming show "Nandito Ako," which airs on February 20.
Will Ate Vangie work with other celebrities in the near future? One thing is for sure: her English skills are sure to be tested with David Archuleta.
