Perhaps the best case for countless hours spent online is digital media’s massive contribution to the speedy, efficient organization and deployment of disaster relief and logistics.
Created and activated by Dan Matutina of Ideals, a social design studio, The Click Initiative is a viral campaign that engages the web user to help raise funds for the typhoon victims, like no other.
By simply viewing and spreading this video on http://theclickinitiative.com, the campaign hopes that Philippine presidential candidates will take notice and immediately accept the online community’s petition. Donations will be based on the number of views the viral video generates which translates to portions of campaign funds that can be diverted for disaster relief projects.
Joining Matutina in the project are Jao Bautista-ADC of BBDO Guerrero, Tim Medina, Val Villar and Leandro Mercurio.
By accessing www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD86dOzZr-g&feature=player_embedded, visitors can activate an online community petition to get in on the movement. Of the site, creator Matutina says, “We think this has potential to be big and I think it could help a lot if it happens.”
Another such campaign emanating from Ideals, is Oneline. From ideas, illustrations, photos, etc., artists can actively participate in their own creative way by posting their works on http://oneline.ph.
Online is a concept of Dan Sering, Mariell Nadal, Berns De Leon, Rhea Alarcon and Michael Galero.
