PANA gives country’s Young Marketers and Young Lions a send-off

The chances of the Philippine marketers and advertising creatives making their mark in the world map are now better than ever.

Last May 27, Philippine Association of National Advertisers sent off the country’s representatives to the Young Marketers and Young Lions competitions at Hard Rock Café in Glorietta. The Cannes hopefuls, looking quite optimistic, said a few words before preparing advertising warfare.

Representing the country are the winners of PANA Brand Camp—Dave Buenviaje and Mary Loise Marasigan of Bayan Communications—who will compete in Young Marketers shootout; the winners of the Creative Guild  Young Kidlat competition—Niňo Gupana and John Paul Cuison of Leo Burnett—competing in the Young Lions, Film category, and Timothy Villela and Rizza Delle Garcia of BBDO Guerrero/ Proximity Guererro Philippines, for Young Lions, Cyber category.

For the first time, The Creative Guild is sending a second team to the Young Lions, with the support of Ayala Foundation. The Young Marketers are flying to Cannes, courtesy of Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Broadcasting Company and Globe Telecom.

Aside from the contestants, another source of pride is Raoul Panes (Executive Creative Director of Leo Burnett Manila), who is a member of this year’s Radio Lions jury.

The young teams were enthusiastic about duking it out with the world’s best young talent.

“It’s something that we will treasure for the rest of our careers,” Buenviaje shared.

“We know that it’s going to be tough, but we promise to do what we can so that the country can be proud of us,” Garcia said. “Now we know how Manny Paquio feels!”

Speaking to the young ones, Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, Philippine Daily Inquirer President, said, “Here’s to the Filipino, let’s go get the gold!”
