Ted Royer: It’s complicated

SINGAPORE – At Spikes Asia 2014, Ted Royer, chief creative officer of Droga5 NY, compared romantic relationships with agency and client relationships.

Communication, honesty, having shared time with each other, and having shared goals is the key to a healthy agency-client relationship. In enriching a relationship in these aspects, both sides can reach their goals and keep each other happy.

Agencies should prioritize the best interest of the clients, and clients should treat agencies as partners instead of vendors. Both sides must support each other.

“Our best relationships at Droga5 are the ones that are totally honest and open,” he said. If the relationship lacks these things, then it will not work out.
