MORES inducts 2010 Board, launches 10th national congress

The Marketing and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines (MORES) inducted its 2010 Board of Directors last January 29 at the Discovery Suites. 

A member of the Advertising Board of the Philippines (AdBoard), MORES holds a biennial national congress that feature global figures in the fields of marketing research and statistics.  In 2010, MORES embarks on a pioneer endeavor.

“We are celebrating the 10th congress year, so it will be special. For the first time, the MORES congress will be done outside of Luzon, and will be in sunny Boracay,” disclosed Jay Bautista, Nielsen Philippines executive director, and Chairman of the 2010 National Congress.

The event will be held at the Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Convention Center from July 7 to 9, 2010.  No wonder the venue came straight out of a Polynesian banquet, with MORES members dressed for sun, sand and sea.

Entitled “In Search of the Elusive Insight”, the congress was given a tasty teaser by Issa Baron, Good Thinking Research, managing partner, through a hearty presentation of Selecta’s marketing research on the Filipino’s aspirational attitude towards and attraction for ice cream.

The unconventional luncheon was punctuated by Keynote Speaker Vicente Valdepeñas Jr., a noted Central Bank consultant, educator and author in Economics and Statistics, who enlightened MORES members on the importance of numbers in everyday life. 

“Depending on orientation and training, analysis of numbers leads one to discriminate what truly represents, and what is prescribed by broadcast by media, to determine whether statements are truthful, or reflect what really is going on,” Valdepeñas expounded.

Valdepeñas inducted the 2010 MORES Board of Directors.
