adobo HotSpot: UNICEF Tap Project: Water Balloons

The figures are staggering: 900 million around the world have little or no access to safe and clean water.   Every 20 seconds, a child dies of water-related disease.  That is 4,200 every day.

The latest from Droga5 for the UNICEF features children from Haiti filling balloons with water, then running into the streets to play, gleefully spraying the balloons around.

Copy:  Donate to UNICEF today and one day all children can enjoy clean, safe water like we do.

What started in 2007 for World Water Day continues.  Three years ago, UNICEF, the City of New York and Droga5 initiated the project where the major restaurants in NYC invited diners to donate $1 for clean and safe water, something the diners normally get for free.  For each dollar, a child would get 40 days of clean drinking water.

The campaign was a major success. In 2008, Tap began to catch on around the United States.  Major advertising agencies including Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWACHIATDAY and Wieden+Kennedy volunteered services
