Call for applications: Benguet Artist Summit

PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 2010 – Outlooke Pointe Foundation (OPF) announces its third Artist Summit, to be held for the first time in Benguet province on November 19 to 28, 2010. The revamped residency program for young Filipino contemporary artists, which focuses on local artistic practices and spaces, is designed to coincide with the celebration of the Grand Canao and the Benguet Foundation Day.

The OPF Artist Summit offers artists a serene setting conducive to focused, goal-oriented work, and the opportunity to establish new connections with fellow artists, across a stimulating array of disciplines and locations.

The program is open to Filipino citizens at least 18 years old and no longer enrolled in an educational institution. Applications should address one or more of the Foundation’s overall goals to reignite passion for our nation through the arts. Interested artists are requested to send in a completed application form, a curriculum vitae, and samples of their work. A selection committee will choose the four to six of the best proposals based on concept and execution.

Chosen artists will be provided travel, food, lodging, studio space and a basic stipend for materials for the duration of the program.  Artists will give a short talk/presentation about their work, and special tours of the area will be scheduled, as well as occasions for meeting local artists. Each participant will be assigned one local artist, who he/she has to work on a collaborative piece with. At the end of the ten days, an exhibit will be held, showcasing the collaborative pieces, as well as the individual works of the participating artists. The collaborative pieces will be auctioned off, while the individual works will be included in the private collection of the foundation. The exhibit and auction will also be part of the provinces’ celebration of the Grand Cañao and the Benguet Foundation Day.

Deadline for application is on October 27, 2010. For application forms and inquiries, email Joey Manalo (joey.manalo@outlookepointe.com) or visit outlookepointe.com.
