The ‘Redraw the Line’ climate change awareness campaign stimulates a discussion on justifying and adapting solutions to the problem through multi-sector partnerships among different agencies, the academe, private   companies, non-government organizations and the media, advertising, and entertainment sector. The question is how the communication sectors such as the media, public relations and advertising will address this issue.

Rodel Lasco, scientific director of Oscar M. Lopez (OML) Center, said that communication is key in reaching out to people and spreading awareness of why we need to adapt to climate change as well as coping to climate-related disasters. “The advertising industry could help package the message: this is a crisis that we need to address right now,” Lasco added.

Geiser Maclang Marketing director Amor Maclang explained that they can look at creating a communication campaign on this issue.

David Guerrero, the chairman and CCO of BBDO Guerrero, said climate change should be studied thoroughly. “It’s about engaging long-term basis and taking it seriously and perhaps limiting the number of pro-bono projects because that can be genuinely impactful and sustainable,” added Guerrero.
