"I’m honored to be part of the first PGDA’s jury," says freelance graphic designer Cynthia Arre says. "I thought there were really good entries but the majority are still a bit lacking in terms of quality and freshness in concept & execution. My fellow judges and I worked well together and we agreed that specific categories (like illustration and typography) should be added for the next awards show to ease the judging process and to entice more people with specialized skills to join. As for the work we awarded, the ones we gave top marks to are excellent stuff but I hope to see more designs that will raise the bar even higher in the future."

Nico Puertollano of 27+20 design boutique adds, "Even we were criticizing ourselves on how high our standards were when it came to design.  And I think this was a great start to finally distinguish design versus illustration or  eye candy versus function. I think the best overall work came from a college students, which in my opinion trumped even the pros."

The winners will be revealed on the awards night on October 9, 2010, Saturday, 6:30PM at The Tents, Alphaland Southgate Towers in Makati City. The show is a community celebration of the creative Filipino spirit. Organizers promise that the night will have sideshows, raffles and surprise musical performances.
