Havas regional head Vishnu Mohan heads Anvil Award jurors

MANILA, FEBRUARY 4, 2013 – Dubbed as the "Oscars of Philippine PR practice", the 48th Anvil Awards is widening its scope from traditional tri-media (television, radio and print) to venture into the realm of digital and multi-media.

For the first time, the Anvil Awards accepted Digital PR entries as part of the PR programs category, recognizing the growing importance of social media in reaching out to netizens and the interconnected generation of today.

As a result of this development, interest heightened among the country’s public relations practitioners who acknowledged the power or the digital media and the Internet to get their message across to their customers and the public at large.

Lending a high-level of expertise in appraising almost 400 entries this year as chairman of the board of jurors is Vishnu Mohan, chief executive officer of Havas Media Asia Pacific.

Acknowledged by peers in the industry as a “champion of digital and mobile,” Mohan leads the entire operations for Havas Digital and its network’s aggressive investments in resources to build a strong capability in these two areas. Under his wing, Havas Digital, which accounts for almost half of the Havas Group in Asia – a media network he set up in 2005 from scratch, has full service digital and mobile capabilities under these brands: Media Contacts, Ecselis (performance marketing) and Mobext. Today, he oversees all of the 40 offices in digital, traditional, sports and entertainment marketing across 25 cities in the region running under the brand names of MPG, Havas Digital and Havas Sports & Entertainment.

As someone who is in touch with the digital landscape in the region, Mohan is an active member of digital marketing associations in key markets in Asia and was recently elected as one of the Board of Directors for Mobile Marketing Association (Asia Pacific).  Prior to Havas, Mohan was instrumental in growing Euro RSCG in Singapore to be one of the most successfully-integrated 360-agencies with an “Agency of the Year” award at the very first Effies in Singapore to highlight his achievements.

Mohan will lend his vast expertise in the field of media management, digital and mobile marketing, advertising and public relations as he assumes the lead role among the rest of the distinguished multi-sectoral jurors for this year’s Anvil Awards.

“It is a rare privilege for the Anvil Awards to have someone of his caliber and expertise in our distinguished panel of judges. Mr. Vishnu Mohan will definitely provide authority and credibility in appraising the high volume of entries generated this year, propped by submissions for the Digital and Multimedia categories,” said Yoly Crisanto, APR, Globe Telecom head for corporate communications, who chairs the body of jurors for this year’s Anvil.

Crisanto also noted that with Mohan overseeing the finalists judging, the Anvil has become more competitive, truly raising the bar of excellence in the PR practice.  “The judges’ deliberations were so engaging. Winners this year should really be proud of their work because of the intense scrutiny the entries went through,” she said.

Mohan will be handing out the trophies during the Anvil Awards night on March 6, 2013 at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel.  “We are looking forward to recognize the exceptional works, true to the vision of the Anvil which shall be given only to the best PR endeavors in the Philippines,” affirmed Mohan.
