The use of design beyond aesthetics to motivate and mobilize socially-relevant, positive movements through messages, social design provides designers and artists new and different depth and range to their creative outputs. The YOCard’s VWV campaign is a social design competition that will reap benefits for social causes that include children’s literacy for Bayani Ka ng Sambayahang Pilipino, and sea conservation and adoption of homeless animals for Haribon Foundation.

In turn, the VWV competition dares designers to converge their creative juices into a new medium for social change, that is, design communications.  YOCard founder Kim Paulino, the brains behind VWV said, “we saw in Haribon Foundation and PAWS the right partners for the opportunity to push the advocacies closest to our hearts. To draw direct attention to (socially-relevant) issues, YOCard is the perfect medium to use for the creative design element for the awareness campaign.”

Winners per entry will receive P20,000 worth of items from Ellesse Watches, DC Shoes and more.  Haribon Foundation will publish design winner in their magazine.  YOCard will have an exhibit and interaction showcase featuring all the entries on August 3, 2009 at Greenbelt 3.

All interested individuals can send as many entries in all possible creative formats like photographs, illustrations and graphic arts from April to July 2009.  Standard requirements for entries are: Adobe Illustrator (.ai file for text, logo or any illustrations), Adobe Photoshop (.psd file for background), JPEG (.jpeg file for photos) in high-resolution at 300 pixels/inch.
