6th Gandingan awards hails 2012’s most development-oriented shows and personalities

THE PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 1, 2012: Local broadcasting network ABS-CBN dominated the 2012 “Gandingan: The UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Broadcast Choice Awards” with 22 awards in total. Gandingan is the annual awards program of the University of the Philippines Community Broadcasters’ Society in the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).
 
After the vote of over a thousand students for programs and personalities that strive to promote development-oriented issues, ABS-CBN received the Best Development-Oriented Station award, while Tambayan 101.9 hooked the Best FM Radio Station. GMA Network Inc.’s DZBB, on the other hand, nabbed the Best AM Radio Station awards, as “24 Oras” was recognized as the Best News Program. Its counterpart “TV Patrol” was elevated to the Hall of Fame for Best News Program.
 
Karen Davila, Julius Babao, and Ces Oreña-Drilon shared the Best News Anchor award for “Bandila” and the “Umagang Kay Ganda” anchors won the title of Best Morning Show hosts. The Best Investigative Program award went to “Reporter’s Notebook”, with Jiggy Manicad winning the Best Investigative Program Host award. Bernadette Sembrano and Alvin Elchico were recognized as co-winners of the Best Public Service Program Host award, even as GMA-7’s “Wish Ko Lang” was hailed as the Best Public Service Program.
 
Meanwhile, Jessica Soho of GMA-7 was inducted as a Hall of Fame Best Magazine Program Host, as her program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” received the Best Magazine Program award.
 
The Gandingan Awards was held last January 28 at the D.L. Umali Auditorium in UPLB.
