Better than Ever Raw School 2014 kicks off

MANILA – The Creative Guild of the Philippines’ Raw School has never ceased to produce outstanding talents and hone promising young creatives from the advertising industry. Opening their series of classes this year, Raw School 2014 kicked off on April 3 at B-Side, The Collective.

Attended by young practitioners and students, the pilot class featured talks from agency idols like Cheech Santos of Campaigns & Grey, Deng Tee of Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, Teeny Gonzales of Seven AD and Brandie Tan of Publicis JimenezBasic – lecturing with the theme: Ang bata mo pa, ang tanda mo na! (You’re still young but you’re so old).

This year’s Raw School principal and IXM CEO Third Domingo opened the gates for young creatives, whether in or outside an advertising agency, to join this semester, as there will be tons of learning and exposure that can help them grow and survive in the industry.

In her talk, Santos shared the idea of digital marketing, and how it has appealed to younger audiences. With the utilization of social media by different markets, she discussed how the digital age has become a more powerful tool for marketers and big companies, especially with the use of videos on their websites. She also mentions the idea of “shareability” and its huge role on videos going viral in the Internet.

Sharing her own experiences as a young creative, Tee kept her talk and presentation simple with tidbits of tips to fellow young talents such as: always smile, leave time for yourself, work with good looking people or with people you get along with. She also talked about the importance of always making sure to look your best.

For Gonzales, it’s all about love. Treating our craft the same as how we treat love is the secret to keeping your energies high and inspiring you to pursue your goals. The wonders of love, as she put it, is what made her stay and survive in this industry.

Tan, on the other hand, compared advertising agency life to a marathon. A veteran and award-winning creative, he shared how he survived the mad race of advertising by keeping his mind and body ready for battle. Inspiring young creatives to keep their lifestyle healthy and wealthy for ideas.

The first class of Raw School 2014 ended with a smashing night with Lakihan Mo Logo 27 rockstars such as Itchyworms, Pedicab, Stonefree, Advertising Band of the Philippines, Billy Gaga, Halik ni Gringo, Turband and a breathtaking reunion performance of Kiko Machine.

Raw School is organized by Philippines 4As and the Creative Guild of the Philippines with a year-long curriculum every Thursdays from April to November 2014. Raw School is open to all young creatives and students. To enroll, contact 4asp@pldtdsl.net.
